Why Keep Writing?

Because you want connection.

Because you value tangible art.

Because you like a low-pressure monthly prompt

or because you know someone who does.

open and tear at the fold!

I want to be your penpal

Since 2008 I’ve been sending a letterpress printed postcard to your mailbox every month, with a prompt for your response.

Imagine a low pressure penpal who asks good questions.

Imagine also an art subscription with an option to participate.

Imagine a surprise in your mailbox every month.

How it works:

your response will join hundreds of others!

  1. choose a monthly, yearly or lifetime subscription

  2. receive a card every month—one part original design, one part question ready for your response

  3. respond and mail it back to me. or don’t.

  4. see how other people respond by looking into the archive.

It’s natural to have questions

so I’ve got answers for the most frequently asked ones!

My story:

I am a letterpress printer who only wants to print postcards and a writer who loves to edit my wild thoughts into one good question.

I started this as a way to keep in touch with friends but now it is an offering. It is a chance to sit with a question, sometimes silly, sometimes introspective, and then write or draw a response. It is the tiniest bit of a creative thing for people who don’t think they are creative.

For me, I get to hear many responses to something I’ve been thinking about. It is so much better than a “how are you?”, I get to ask over 150 people what they are thinking, about things they cherish or for a bit of advice.

Stay anonymous or sign your name. Mail me a stack of cards once a year or one card once or every month, I will keep writing to you. This is how I am making sense of too much too fast world. This is my way of slowing down.

As a bonus, I sometimes ask other artists and writers and thinkers to work with me!
