November 2018
Paper Machine, New Orleans
A two month-long installation to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Keep Writing project and the culmination of the 2018 Summer Census.
Throughout the summer of 2018, I asked asked hundreds of people about their relationship to their hometown, there current residence and what they considered home. I visited libraries and summer camps, attended neighborhood events and farmers markets, sat at coffee shops and art openings,. I also left questionnaire cards in many neighborhood centers all over New Orleans. Additionally, all subscribers to the Keep Writing Project were asked to participate.
All 1200+ responses were displayed along with the most recent Keep Writing cards—a year of collaborating with artists and writers. A new card was revealed at the show, asking viewer for their ideas for the project going forward.
A separate area upstairs displayed 100 more Keep Writing cards and a library of responses that viewers were encouraged to read through.
The Summer Census and accompanying zine , Where You From #6, were created with generous support from the Platforms Fund .
